From experience it should be fine, OS X is far better these days with optical drives.

I have a Pioneer DVR-112BK in a Quicksilver 2002 - it works fine. I just needed to remove the front plate for it to open the door silently.

Can't vouch for the 112D ... but I have the 111D and it works fine in my PM.

Rarely coasters disks, runs fast, not as quiet as I'd like, but the early PMs are louder anyway.

It all works nicely :)

Just installed it for my dad this evening. Very simple and straight forward, unplug one, plug in the other. OS X and apps saw it correctly straight away, no messing around necessary.
