Hello. I have a power Mac g5 running OS X leopard and want to burn mdiscs.

What is the best way to do this? Are any external drives going to be plug and play that you may know of? Thank you.

It seems that you'd need something like this:

It's certainly well supported on the Mac! :D

Mac OS Compatibility
  • Mac OS 8.6, Mac OS 9.0, Mac OS 9.1, Mac OS 9.2
  • Mac OS X 10.0 Cheetah, Mac OS X 10.1 Puma, Mac OS X 10.2 Jaguar, Mac OS X 10.3 Panther, Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger, Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard, Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard, Mac OS X 10.7 Lion, Mac OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion, OS X 10.9 Mavericks, OS X 10.10 Yosemite, OS X 10.11 El Capitan
  • macOS 10.12 Sierra, macOS 10.13 High Sierra, macOS 10.14 Mojave, macOS 10.15 Catalina, macOS 11.x Big Sur, macOS 12.x Monterey, macOS 13.x Ventura

The drive is a Hitachi/LG 8X SuperMulti DVD Writer with the JMicron JMS578 chipset, so if you're prepared to search online using those parameters, you could probably find one at a cheaper price than the OWC offering. ;)
