Power Mac G5 Hard Drive Upgrade

All,

Any help very much appreciated.

I have a G5 2 x 1.8 Power Mac, running 10.4.8, I bought it in June 2004.

Original drive is rather full and I'd like to do more work on films and photos, so I want to do the following:

1. Add a much bigger internal drive - 400Gb ish
2. Add a similar sized extenal drive to back up internal drive
3. Put all my media and files on the new internal drive and leave the original 80Gb as the system and applications drive

Does this seems like a good idea? If so any tips on drives, back up utilities etc. would be warmly received!:)
