Hi all,

I have a pretty new (just before the dual core) Power Mac G5 dual 2.7. It runs beautifully, and is for the most part very silent. However, I've noticed recently that the fan, which usually starts up, runs for a few seconds, and then stops has been cycling much more frequently than normal. This actually makes the noise more annoying than just a regular hum which you can get used to.

Anyone have any ideas what might becausing this? My apartment isn't hotter than usual or anything like that.. the conditions haven't changed. I haven't made any hardware changes to it, and i'm not running anything new / processor intensive.

my PM2.7 has a roaring fan noise problem too and i haven't figured how to deal with that permanently

have u tried resetting the fan speed by:
1 switching off the computer
2 unplug the PM from the power main and leave it for at least 15 seconds
3 restart the computer?
