exactly as the title.. wont connect either way (from the comp cant get facebook or anything, it says cannot find server)

followed macinstructs tutorial on how to set up a mac to run as a web server and it works but only on my home network...
link is here http://www.macinstruct.com/node/112

the comp is connected directly to my router via ethernet..

any ideas on why its not working??

Looks like you have 2 separate issues.

1) If you can't get to facebook or any other website, i would first check that you have DNS set up correctly for your connection. If your machine can't resolve any addresses, then it can't get anywhere (unless you go directly by IP).

2) What's the IP address of your machine that you're trying to reach from the outside world ? If it's a 192.168 address, it's not routable from the outside.

Most ISP's block port 80 (the default port of websites).

It could also be your router blocking the traffic.

That tutorial is quite old and doesn't address any router specific issues.
