Hello,

I had a question about my menu bar options that seemed to change on its own.

Where before I could change my battery preference from "Better Performance, Normal or Better Battery" right in the menu bar when I clicked it.

Now, It doesn't give me that option and I can only change it in System Prefs.?

Is there an option to check that might have some hoe got unchecked?

Thanks,
HHM

At least for me, to stopped being there after going from 10.5.5 -> 10.5.6. I think Apple took it out.

It will change automatically when you unplug the power cord. Meaning whatever you last set it to while on battery, it will still have that setting while you run it on battery. Same hold true for A/C.

Yep it went with 10.5.5 to 10.5.6 and it absolutely sucks!!! if i want to quickly encode something while on battery i used to click flick it to Performance and then back, now it's a pain in the bum

Power management in OSX isn't getting any better.

Did you see if you can add it back with
system/library/CoreServices/menu extras
