Power Options

I got my first mac today its good but i have a few questions. On windows laptops you can change a setting so that the power button does a certainly thing and that nothing happens when you close the lid just turns the screen off. Can you do this in a mac?

InsomniaX was free and allowed you to keep the computer on while closing the lid, but unfortunately only SleepLess works in Leopard and you have to pay...

ok thank you ill do with out then is it safe to put my macbook in a storage case while its asleep or is it still on then and producing heat? thanks

when your light on the front of the macbook starts to cycle bright to dim every few seconds, then it's safe to put it on your case.
