The power supply fan in my 2010 3.2 quad just went beserk. Spinning at 2950 rpm. I suht down and restarted using the four finger solute (command-option-p-r) and it seems normal now.

What could have caused it to spin full speed? Maybe I should buy apple care . . .
 
You're covered for the first year...Applecare gives you 2 years more cover. I'd recommend it anyway though.
 
I had the same problem after installing 2 GB extra RAM in my Quad Pro Nehalem. (after running Cinebench). I put the Mac into sleep and after he woke up the noise was gone. Now the trouble seems to be gone. I have 14 GB RAM now.
