My wife's 45W Magsafe 2 power supply gets very hot when not plugged in to the Macbook. This doesn't seem right to me as it isn't drawing current (or shouldn't be anyway). Can anyone enlighten me on this please?

Thanks

Brian

In my experience, Apple takes power supply issues very seriously, even for machines out of warranty. Your best bet is to hit up support and describe the issue. They're likely to send you a replacement at no charge. From their perspective, a $5 or $10 charger is worth the investment to prevent bad PR or a lawsuit from a high voltage component failing spectacularly.

Unplug it from the wall when you don't have it plugged into the MacBook.

If you do this, it won't get hot... ;)
100% guaranteed!
