Apple's Beats brand has a new set of fitness-focused earbuds available, the Powerbeats Fit. We picked up a set of the Powerbeats Fit to see how they compare to the prior-generation Beats Fit Pro and Apple's AirPods Pro 3.

The Powerbeats Fit are designed for working out, playing sports, and other activities where in-ear security is important. The earbuds have silicone tips and a soft silicone wingtip that tucks up against the concha of the ear, holding them in place even during vigorous movement.

At $200, the Powerbeats Fit are $50 cheaper than the AirPods Pro 3 and the same price as the prior-generation Beats Fit Pro, but they are targeted at a different market. The AirPods Pro can be used for working out, but aren't necessarily designed specifically for that purpose.

Apple made the wingtip of the Powerbeats Fit more flexible than the wingtip of the Beats Fit Pro, for a more secure fit in a wider range of ear sizes. There are ear tip sizes from extra small to large to fit different sized ear canals. There's an IPX4 water resistance rating, so they're sweat resistant.

The Powerbeats Fit include Active Noise Cancellation, Transparency mode, and an Apple-designed acoustic platform with proprietary drivers. The sound is similar to the sound you get with the AirPods Pro 3, and it feels more bass heavy than before. ANC is about on par with the AirPods Pro 2, and it does a good job blocking out low frequency sounds.

You won't get the newer H2 chip, though, as the Powerbeats Fit are still using the H1. The H1 allows for quick pairing, automatic switching between devices, Audio Sharing, Hey Siri integration, and Find My support. There are on-device controls to swap songs, change listening modes, and adjust volume.

The USB-C charging case is smaller than the Beats Fit Pro case, so it's easier to carry in a pocket. You'll get around seven hours of playback per charge from the earbuds, and then another 30 hours from the case. Beats earbuds support a 5-minute Fast Fuel charge that gets you an hour of listening time.

What the Powerbeats Fit offer that the AirPods don't is better cross-platform compatibility. The Powerbeats Fit work just as well on Android devices, with customizable features enabled through a dedicated Beats app.

The Powerbeats Fit are $200 and come in four colors, including a bright orange that matches Apple's latest iPhone 17 Pro models. They're available for purchase starting today.

Really tempted. My BFP wings ripped off long ago, but still usable in a pinch. I also have APP 2s that I keep attached to my bag I use for work and travel.

All to say, I don’t NEED the new Powerbeats Fit, but they sure are tempting… especially in that orange!!

I had some headphones with the wingtip design years ago. Went to the around the ear like the PowerBeats Pro because wingtip kept falling out. But those had a cord....maybe without the cord its not an issue.

My Beats Fit Pros are about 3 years old. The little wing tips are now seperating from the main earbuds body. Anyone know if the new Powerbeats Fit are more durable??

I caught my current set on sale from Best Buy used for 75 dollars. I’ll wait for theses to drop in price since the features are similar to previous set. I did upgrade to the new AirPod pro 3 which have been wonderful

In other words, we have to choose between functionality, with earbuds falling out, or extra support without functionality.

No H2 chip
No wireless charging
No HR sensor
No improved battery life

after 4 years that is as pathetic as the AirPods Max "update". Tim we are disappointed.

The only thing here that is a deal breaker is the H2. But it's a big one. Why bother?

You're right about all the missing features, but they're already behind and will continue to fall behind without the H2.

So I'll stick with my Fit Pros for now.

I read (on MR, I think) that they made them more durable specifically because how easy the old ones ripped off.
Until enterprising YouTubers test the new wingtips for tearing (or we hear from new owners with torn ones), we won't know for sure. I kept pausing the video and comparing the design to my BFP and I'm skeptical.

My Beats Fit Pro Volt Yellow isn't bad but the ANC sucks, even after using different ear tips. It works but it still lets through too much external sound. I use them as a backup to my APP2.
Get better ear tips (ComplyFoam, though somewhat expensive) and the ANC becomes much better on the APP2. But nothing helps the Beats Fit Pro's ANC.

Love mine for the gym. Can’t really see a reason to upgrade. HR sensing is irrelevant since most users will most likely be using an Apple Watch, or other fitness tracker.

Mine, too. But I saw someone suggest just super glueing the tips and it totally worked. Still sound great, fit fantastic, and no longer have an issue with the tips. I was interested in the upgrade but not sure I'm seeing enough in this new model to get me to shell out more cash.

When my set of Beats Fit Pro gave up the ghost, I picked up a pair of the Studio Buds+; not overly impressed and wish they had released these earlier :-(

Lack of hardware improvement is a bit of a bummer though.

Open air headphones that sit on the ear with behind the ear hooks are probably the best for working out, situational awareness and cleanliness due to sweat. Shokz makes some good ones.
