Hi All,

Just received my powerbeats pro to replace my powerbeats 3. The top lid of the case seems to have quite a bit of play which makes it feel kind of cheap. Is this like this on your ones? My AirPods case is nice and firm but this is completely the opposite feeling wise.

Thanks in advance!

Mine is pretty tight when fully open or closed. When it's in between it has just a tiny bit of play. Very sturdy overall. If yours is very loose I would talk to Apple.

Can anyone else confirm ? Wonder if Apple will replace the case smh

Mine has play when opened too. Anyone return one yet just for a new case? Does Apple have replacement cases in stock. I noticed it immediately upon receipt.

I called Apple and beats about this. No good options at this time. You can mail them to California for a warranty service or you can wait until they become available in stores in June. I was a little disappointed. At one point they suggested it could be from damage. Clearly a design flaw on mine. That play when opened should not be there on a 250 product designed by Apple. I’m just going to wait until they hit stores and ask for an exchange then. It’s that or return them and go to the back of the line.

Well at least you get a new battery with ur case when you exchange it..lol

Mine is loose when fully open too, has anybody found out why?

Doubt there’s a why. Must be the design from factory and I just got mine yesterday from a local Apple store so it’s a newer batch. They should know better. We apple owners are OCD!

Appears to be a design defect. I submitted a repair ticket but I’m not going to bother. I’d have to send them back for 10 days and my guess is the new ones will do the same thing. Eventually when they are in stock I’ll go to Apple store and see if they’ve fixed it.
[doublepost=1558714098][/doublepost]I feel better knowing this is not just on mine. The case is utter crap. I don’t care about the size but it’s cheap feeling and the flimsly lid contributes to it. For 250 give me something better Apple.

Wait so this is on everyone’s? There must a reason then. So isn’t it magnets that make it close and keep it shut? Maybe something to do with that. I am going to go into Apple store and see if their demo unit does this too. I doubt any rep will know if I ask them either.

The magnets keep it shut and work fine. It’s the looseness / play when fully opened that we are complaining about.

I know, I’m saying if this is on purpose I’m sure it has something to do with how it closes and the magnets. It would be the only reason why if not defective. But how could so many be defective if not on purpose.

Gotcha. I can’t believe it’s on purpose but what do I know. Could just be a manufacturing flaw that they may fix in later runs.

Strange. I just got mine from the Apple store and it's not loose at all. THere's a small bit of play in the lateral direction similar to my AirPods case.

When you say lateral do you mean front to back or side to side?

Yeah I've noticed this as well. The lid is pretty study(no wiggle, or play) when closed, but when it's opened, you can even hear how loose it is by giving it a shake. I don't think this is a cause for concern (the design doesn't seem like it will get worse with wear), and exchanging them for another case may very well reveal the same thing.
My thought is that moving forward in future designs, Apple uses a different hinge system in the case. Possibly one that's spring loaded?

Anybody know of a way to turn off the case? Seems to me if the PB are idle and in the case. When they get down to 99% the case will charge it back up. And it’s an ongoing charging battle just sitting there night and day so the case goes down fast. I only use mine 2 hours a day so no need for them to be on or idle the rest of the time. Is it even possible to turn these off, if not. Why the heck not!? Lol

To clarify, lateral meaning side to side when the case is opened. If the case is closed, there is absolutely no movement between the lid and the bottom case.

Nope.
