I bought my pair over week ago, after watching and reading many reviews in which they been mostly praised for the sound quality and features . Thought they will perfectly fit my lifestyle, they comfortable for running, wearing for long time and long time battery life would let me have long conversations over the phone with my family abroad. And they suppose to have very good quality of sound. Initially I bought them as replacement of my Bose SoundSport Free and Bose Quiet Comfort 35, I just wanted own one pair of wireless headphones with good quality of sound and long battery life. Unfortunately Powerbeats Pro didn’t fit those requirements.

1. After connecting them to my iPhone XS Max, and start playing some music , the sound coming from them seems to remind me some cheap earbuds which my 12 years son getting occasionally from Amazon, plus they sound really quiet compare to Bose SoundSport Free not mention how quiet they are when I compare them with Powerbeats 3. Powerbeats 3 , over 1 years old sounded almost 25% louder and sound in them was more punching and vibrant, while Powerbeats Pro sound flat, basses seem to be very week. It was difficult to find some songs in which they sound good at all, not mention that they sound really bad in Metal, Rock, Punk, generally all guitar music, they sounded better in Hip Hop and Pop but still far from good. Funny they got loud on 80-90 volume but I could forget listening anything on about 50% .

2.Battery ...They suppose to give you 9 hours of listening, obviously that on certain volume level, but if they sound more quiet than competition, they would force you listening with higher volume which means battery would go quicker. One day I left to work with 100% battery, I listened about 1,5 h audio, 20 min conversation over the phone and than I have over 1h conversation in Google Duo and unexpectedly I heard sound indication that battery is getting low.It never happened to me with similar time usage on Bose SoundSport free even they offer only 4 hours battery .Not sure what make them died so quickly. Another think worth to mention is that battery in the case is used all the time , even if Powerbeats Pro are charged 100% , many users mentioned this all over internet, so seems to be „normal” for them, but that is not the case with other wireless earbuds from competitors, while charged 100% they stop using battery juice from case.

All above made me come to conclusion that I got faulty pair, few people over internet complained about sound quality , than got replacement and sound was better. So I went to local Apple store and replaced them for another pair. Connected them with expectation of much more better quality of sound....unfortunately they sounded exactly the same as first pair, maybe even quieter....I doubt I got another faulty pair ( still possible with my recent luck to Apple products , 2 days ago I got iPhone XS for my wife and brand new out of the box was totally dead, with no chance to switching on), much more I believe that Apple so much changed sound profile in Beats that they sound , how they sound , for me Bose sound so much better, same Powerbeats 3. So I returned them after 2 hours ,I’m glad that years ago I past this stage of blind believe that every Apple product is perfect and even if is rubbish I would try convince myself that is good, only because is from Apple. If something cost over 200£ I expect quality, satisfaction and not need convincing myself that is good while is not.

And the case of Powerbeats Pro can be used as weapons , or be thrown instead of bricks during some demonstrations. Definitely not pocket friendly.

I would try different ear tips, makes a huge difference with a good deal. Did for me.

Also battery life for me has been excellent, has not died on me once and I rarely charge.

I did notice when putting the buds into the case, you do have to line up the charging ports as sometimes it doesn’t touch. Easy way to check is to open the case and see on the phone if both are charging. I wouldn’t give up on them so quick, try different tips, try buying foam tips and see that helps. They are excellent buds however everyone’s ears are bit different and may not sit correctly. My wife is one of them, doesn’t seem to fit right, I believe her ears are bit too small
