I'm pretty happy right now, as I just took a pile of "parts" and put them back together into a PowerBook 1400c/133. I know that they used to be together a long time ago and that it was used for web browsing. The hard drive, screen, and CD-ROM drive died and I guess someone parted it out. I replaced all the missing parts, and installed OS 8.5! Wow that brings back memories.

Anyway, here are some rough specs:

PowerPC 133Mhz (I think that's what the 1400c/133 means)
32MB RAM (upgraded)
Some color screen I had laying around from another PB...lol
1.3GB ATA HD (another "laying" around item) formatted as MacOS Extended
2 Removable bays
CD-ROM "bay" drive
Floppy "bay" drive
2 batteries (I'll get to this later...)
GlobalVillage 56kbs and 10Base-T Ethernet adapter PC Card (made in Canada)

Well.....everything is working except the batteries and the ethernet card.

I reformatted the HD, so all existing GlobalVillage drivers are toast. Google leaves me with nothing. Anyone know a place to get these drivers? I can post specs/pics of the card if necessary.

The 1st battery just doesn't hold a charge...not a suprise there.
The 2nd battery is brand new. I bought it new ages ago when I had a PowerBook of the same model. I used it a few times and put it back in the box. Inserting it into this PB gives me a red-X through the battery meter...not good.

Any ideas on anything I said or what I could do with this thing? I basically put it together just for fun.

The outside of the computer says PowerPC...hehehe. I like the picture frame idea!

Photos taken with PowerShot S100 and S110 digital cameras. Warning: Kids, don't build a digital picture frame unless under supervision of an electrical engineer who hasn't skipped the majority of his classes.

There goes that idea.

I think it's a 603e processor, not a PowerPC... right?
The 603e is a PowerPC processor. So are 601, 603, 604 and 604e processors.

Ohhh cool. I don't know much about preG3 processors. I saw a processor upgrade to a G3 233Mhz for this computer.

How much do you think this computer is worth? Everymac says 100-125USD

I've got some extra ram (a lot more than 32MB... I'll check, but somewhere closer to 64) and a 10 gig apple orig. HD i could sell you to up the usability of your 1400. Did I mention for cheap?
