Powerbook 15" screen contrast problem

I'm having a weird contrast problem on my AlBook 15" LCD screen. When I start a game like Halo, for instance, the first time it runs the contrast is really high - very bright whites and dark blacks. It's so bad that I can't play the game. But, if I quit the game and start it again (right away), the contrast is fine. (I've noticed that games other than Halo are able to change the screen contrast as well - Star Trek Elite Force II did the same thing).

I'd like the contrast to always be in the post-Halo state. Any help would be apprectiated. Thanks!
