Hello,

I have been recently looking at Powerbook Bags or sleeves to carry my laptop around with me. I have only been able to locate a couple sites that look like they have the type of bags/sleeves i have been looking for.

The Vyper M 15" sleeve by booq really looked like a perfect type, yet I just want to see what else is out there, or what your reviews have been if you have used this sleeve.

http://www.booqbags.com/Detail.bok?no=96

I wanted to know if there were any other sleeves that looked or had the same wight/construction as this one, that anybody would recomend.

Thanks, AAA

take into consideration, that really can't hold much other than the powerbook itself.

it's nice to be able to carry around the a/c adapter and a mouse.. among other things.

i thought the same thing...but man that bag is soooooo hot it might be worth it just to get a little ziplock bag or something to throw that in;)

i was just looking some more on their site...this bag looks hot and has extra pockets but is a tad pricey at $89.95...and this bag is very similar to the XM except is more of a "bag" if that makes sense, same price too.

Consider the Crumpler wee-bee (for 12") or crippy duck (for 15").

Great bags and you might find a good deal on eBay.

I have an Incase Sleeve I got from an Apple store. I recommend you check them out.

I've got an Incase sling backpack (also from an Apple store). Highly recommended. It doesn't hold much in the way of textbooks, since its a slim bag to begin with, but it holds every single cable I could want and then some.:D :D

I couldn't be happier.

Reviews

There are several reviews in this thread..

... and the sticky at the top. Please post a review when you get your bag.

Good luck...also, I like the Vyper M, but use the Crumpler most of the time since I am carrying the power adapter, books, bt mouse, etc.

But...the Vyper is absolutely perfect for taking your pb places that you are just going to use it for a couple of hours.

I just picked up a Crumpler School Hymn (15" version) for $38 shipped from this guy on eBay:

http://stores.ebay.com/Bikewagon
(search "school hymn")

It's like the Vyper M in that it's just a sleeve and cannot carry other accessories. It's great though because I just throw it in my backpack and I'm off. It's very stylish. The PB fits snug enough that there's no chance of it sliding around, yet it's not so tight that it could create wear marks on the PB (I think I've read that this can happen with some other sleeves). The top and bottom of the sleeve have rigid inserts to help protect against impacts. The inside lining is very soft and won't scratch the PB, nor will the zipper because it is also lined. As far as the seller I mentioned above, they were pleasant to deal with -- communicated throughout and I received the sleeve (shipped from Utah to New Jersey) on the 2nd business day after I paid for it.

Hope this helps. Good luck!

Your question has been asked and answered a gazillion times here on
Macrumors forums, just do a search for "powerbook sleeve bag". Anyway,
my personal recommendation for a sleeve would be the "Tucano second skin".

My Booq 14" powersleeve (which fits up to a 15" powerbook perfectly) is for sale.

I no longer have a laptop, so it is of no use for me. It's barely been used at all, and I'd ship it for free.

Make an offer :)

I almost ordered that same Booq sleeve when I ordered my 15" PowerBook. I didn't though, after I saw how great it fit in my Timbuk2 Commute bag which I already had. I love the Commute for taking my PowerBook and other essentials with me, but it is a little large sometimes. I might still order the sleeve for when I just want to carry the PB or if I want to put it in another bag besides the Commute. I guess the only thing stopping me is the $50 price tag  . Im sure its a great product that's worth the price, but that's still a lot just for a sleeve.

I do travel a lot and the semi-hard protection is very appealing.

BodyGlove

I have a simple neoprene Body Glove sleeve. It stays inside the big bag most of the time just for some extra protection.

I think it was $20.

After I bought it I found something similar at Radio shack that had a shoulder strap for the same price.
