Somewhere
I have a 1.33Ghz 12" powerbook and recently it has started to just shut off when the battery is saying it has around a half hour left, instead of it warning me that the battery is low and it will go to sleep soon. and then it won't restart until I plug it in. is there any way for me to fix this besides getting a new battery? This battery is not covered under any recalls, and there is no applecare left on the computer. also if it matters the computer is running 10.4.10.

I just reset the PMU, I don't have time to try running the battery down right now, but I will run it all the way down tommarow and post back on whether it worked or not.

Ok so I finally had enough time to run the battery down all the way and it still just shut off without giving me any warning. is there anything else that I can do or is this a problem with the battery itself?

Have you tried testing your battery using Coconut battery?

I have not used that program, I know that I will probably need a new battery within the next 6 months or so, but I would like this one to warn me when it is getting so low that it has to turn off, so when I go back to school in a few weeks, it doesn't just suddenly shut off when I am in the process of typing an important paper.

You might try calling Apple to see if you can get a battery out of them, even though it is out of Applecare. You aslo might try emailing sjobs@apple.com and tell them about it to see if you can get a battery that way.

Well I double checked on the recalls, and my battery is actually covered, so I will be able to get a new one that way.
