Powerbook boot up freeze

I have a PowerBook G3 to which I upgraded OS 9.0 to 9.1 to 9.2.2. But now when I boot up more often than not, I have to restart because it will freeze in mid boot 2-3 times. Do I need to do someting with memory to try to fix this or is there something I can set in the Memory control panel to adjust for this?
