a friend of mine owns a powerbook with mac os X installed, which happens to have a strange problem as of recently.

there are strange graphic glitches on the screen and most particularly next to his cursor. (when he moves the cursor, the glitches just move along)

everything worked fine until we did two of these things:
- i deleted stuff that he didn't need anymore (software) to clear up some HD space
- i lifted the keyboard out of the case (just to see what it was like) using the two hinges. (didn't take it out all the way though, just lifted it a bit at the top)

after the glitch started showing up, he performed a clean reformat with the system disk (fresh copy of OS X and all that) but the glitch remained, so the problem can't be software related right?

maybe it was the keyboard removal that caused this problem?

any thoughts on this?
and more importantly, does anyone know how to fix this?

thanks in advance
