Well, I have a five year old PowerBook. It is definitely aged, has been used constantly, but in the past years it had shown the white spots issue. There was a recall for it, however it had been stopped in 2005 for me as it only was for two additional years after the date of purchase. Regardless, after hearing so many good stories about Apple's Customer Relations and Product Specialists, I figured I'd give it a go.

I called up and asked to be transfered to customer relations. The guy put me on hold for 20 or so minutes, got a product specialist and when he came on, I sent him a picture of the screen and he said that Apple will be covering all of the repair.

I find it amazing Apple will cover this for such an old computer - I'm truly impressed.

:apple: is running a pyramid scheme. They do right by three or four customers just to get them to come on the boards and rave, then screw everyone else and they end up ranting.

:D Jk. Congrats.

That's not a pyramid scheme. But wow, I'm impressed with Apple on this one. They better do the same when my 8600 eventually decides to give way.

Hi,
that sound amazing. What exactly is the "white spot" thing?
Is it like fingerprints in the screen which are a little brighter than the rest?

I have a picture of it attached. I'm really happy about it, I didn't even expect them to replace it when I called :D

That's a lot of white spots you have/had. Probably why the tech said 'sure, well replace the screen.'

I too had white spots but I was covered by applecare.
