I just got an oldish PowerBook G3 from my dad (he just got a new 12-inch ALbook) with a swappable CD drive (meaning one can take it out and put in, say, a floppy drive). I was wondering if anyone knows if I can get a DVD drive to put in there, and if so, where I could find one.

Thanks.

Thanks, but i popped out the drive and on the bottom it said, "Macintosh PowerBook G3 Series 24X CD-ROM Module". But also I think I'm gonna try to sell it and get a $999 iBook.

Thanks anyway...

try to find a refurbished one, or a used one. Go to dealmac to
find the lowest prices. That site is invaluable.

Other sites which may have good prices:

Apple's Hot deals site
www.powermax.com
www.smalldog.com
www.macmall.com (sometimes they have good deals)

that's all I can think of right now, but be sure to go to dealmac to
make sure you aren't getting ripped off anywhere else.

Hope that helps. ;)

sorry to double post but this is at powermax:

Factory Refurbished "Snow" iBook G3/700
128 MB of RAM, 20 GB internal drive, internal CD-ROM, internal 56k modem, 12.1" screen

for $888 and that seemed like a good deal to me.

and I think it is the best deal on dealmac.com too.

But then again, thats a lot of money for me...

And I've growwn to like this sortof, and I read this thing that said that some company makes hard drives for the "media slot" (does anyone know anything about this??)

Also, (sry if im getting anoying...) it needs more VRAM, it can't even run Keynote!! Is there any way to upgrade that? (I don't care if it violates the warenty)
