PowerBook G3 problems...

I’m having loads of hassle with my old PowerBook G3 (now my wife’s). It has the following issues:

1) It will start up, check the RAM and then start up again. This time it’ll complete the start up process.

2) When the display dims it goes off totally and will not come back on, the same happens when the machine sleeps.

3) It will no longer charge batteries. This could of course just be dead batteries.


I recently replaced the PRAM battery as it was dead. The problems existed before this was changed as well.

I really need to get this back running properly as she is using it for her MSc.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Have you run an Apple Hardware Test? It could be a part of the logic board.
