Hello

I picked up a PowerBook G3 (model identifier 312) at an auction for $30. It's running OS 9.2, and is in surprisingly good shape.

I plan to upgrade it to OS X 10.2, but the more pressing issue is that the battery is completely dead. It only works with the charger.

I priced some online, and they run about $99. Wondering if anyone knows of a better-priced battery source that I may be overlooking.

Also, wondering how it will perform with 10.2. Anyone else have a similar setup?

Thanks.

I've seen them for a lot less on eBay. Also try Amazon.

I think I'd stick with OS 9.

I had one with 10.2 on it for a while. Worked decently, as long as you were patient.

9.2 would run a lot snappier, but you'd have to work to find web browsers/applications/support for it to be useful...
