I know this is an old laptop, but it's my backup computer. The power adapter on mine seems to be broken. I am trying to find a replacement power adapter.

Should I try to buy an original Apple product? Is it 65W or 45W? And where can I look to buy one?

The original power adapter for the 12" PowerBooks/iBooks was 45W while the 15/17" had 65W adapters. Apple sells only the 65W adapter as a retail replacement, but it works fine with all PowerBooks and iBooks (G3 era and up of course).

There are also third party adaptors, like the iGo. I had an iGo adaptor that had plugs for Dell, Apple, etc.

Apple stopped all that with its new patented MagSafe connector. Grr.
