Hi,
Some days ago I just open my recently bought Powerbook G4 12 1.5GHz.
It was mint, almost with no dust (kinda impressive, it was never opened!).
Change the 60gb original HDD to msata kingston SMS200 60Gb SSD with Lindy adapter, and cleaned the heatsink and did a repaste with Artic MX4.
It seems to me that the temps are higher, I can't get below 47ºC -52ºC, and on intensive tasks or web browsing (TFF) 59ºC-60ºC. I guess this is not normal.
I cloned the original drive to the SSD and repaired permissions also.
This on tiger, on leopard I guess it is even worse.

Any hints?

You'll also want to replace the thermal pads. I put thicker 2mm pads in mine over the GPU and the bus controller, plus another one on top of the heatsink, directly over the CPU die, but under the top case to transfer heat directly off the heatsink above the CPU to disperse beneath the keyboard.

This PB is currently sitting on CPU 44.5°C, GPU 51°C. It has the 64GB KingSpec mSATA SSD and Lindy adapter.

Started off at 36°C when I first booted it, then idled at around 42 - 45°C. The rear fan comes on at 46°C

Ambient (Summer time) temp tonight is 26°C, but very humid and feels more like 30°C.

Thanks for your input. I didn't had the thermal pads, so I just put a bit of thermal paste under them (I didn't remove them).
Your temperatures are similar to mine.

On first reading this my initial thoughts were that those temps don't appear too high for a PB 12".
And then reading AphoticD's reply seems to confirm this.
Don't worry about it. Enjoy.

I recommend using thermal pads for these distances. Thermal paste is meant for <1mm gaps and doesn't do very well with more
I didn't replace the thermal paste, I simply put paste under them.

Nice, I will do!
