powerbook G4 15inch problems

hi all, i have a G4 powerbook 1.25ghz, 512ram

Ive had the system failure: cpu=0; coe=000000009 with kern errors etc with loads of other text.
The laptop battery dosent hold a charge so it needs the adapter in all the time to run so it gets very hot, i know they get hot but i think its hotter than normal.
Also the grey "shutdown" screen now comes up when you reboot.
However it vanishes if you let the computer cool down.

So, could it be ram, hd, cpu, cpu fan logic board, or is it just going to die and its best use is prop up a table???

any help would be fantastic

sounds like it is overheating, maybe you have a dead fan, try installing istat menus or istat pro and see what speed your fan is running at

(all in celsius)

and the hd 40

fans

rear exhaust 0rpm
rear right exhaust 0rpm

cpu core voltages 1.08v

so would that mean the fans arnt working and its very hot?

yup the fans are dead or jammed

a) Do you think it is worth fixing and how much do you think it would cost?

b) Do you think i should just claim on the house insurance?!

From what I know, fans are pretty cheap to get replaced. I'd guess around $50, maybe $35> if you do it yourself. Good luck!
