Hi im new here and i search the powerfull machine for Debian and MorphOS.
So i got two A1138, but both got a defect.

First one : when powering the screen stays black the fans run full blast the led stays on no chime.
Second one : chime the lcd flickers, and then the Powerbook is off.
I renewed the cooling paste and clean the fans, but nothing.
no obvious damage visible on the mainboard.
Anybody a advice or anybody has successfully repaired such a machine?
Thanks

This may be a long shot (with the first PowerBook, but also possibly with the second one):

Have you tried looking for a different power brick/adapter from another PowerBook/iBook and tried plugging your A1138s into that power supply instead?

I’ve run into this problem recently with an A1138 which won’t co-operate with any third-party power adapter (unlike my A1139, which will), and recently, won’t work any longer with an Apple power adapter/brick I’d been using with it (and with which the A1138 was working until recently, when the adapter/brick stopped working for the A1139 as well).

In short, it could be a failing power brick/adapter.

If you can find another Apple power brick designed for a A1138/A1139 unit, this may get your first A1138 past the fans running full-hilt (the same problem I’m dealing with) and into a proper boot sequence.
