Powerbook G4 and Airport

Hello-

My coz has a 15" Powerbook G4 (867 mHz) he got about a year ago. After receiving an Airport Express card as a gift, we soon realized it would not work with his machine. Since then, we've learned that Apple has stopped manufacturing regular Airport cards. We've also learned that a company (Dinasys?) will begin to sell third-party airport cards next month.

First off, can someone confirm this?

Next, is it possible to install a third-party wireless card (802.1g) and install compatible drivers (giving him faster access speeds)?

Lastly, I read in a seperate thread that Orinoko cards work with Airport drivers. Does anyone know where I might purchase one of these guys?

it should be possible to install one of the compatible cards inside the Airport card compartment, if you're able to pull the antenna thing off and expose an antenna connector (which plugs into the card just like any Airport card). not all cards have this (as far as my reading has indicated).

and failing that, of course you'd have to stick the thing in the PowerBook's pc card slot.

anyhow, if you're successful in getting a non-Apple card to work, I suppose you've earned the $40 or so price difference between this and getting a refurbished Airport card from a place like Expercom.
