Powerbook G4 battery dead?

I think my battery died, but before I buy a new one i wanted to ask the community here.

My battery indicator says its at 0% charged and will never go up. The light on the side where you plug the charger into is lit green like its fully charged. When i open up istat pro it tells me the battery is at 75% life and is fully charged, but when i pull out the plug the laptop dies immediately.

Is my battery dead? If not, is there anything I can do to fix it?

Sounds to me like it's a dead battery for sure..I think you'll probably just have to get a new one.

I bought a new one by the way... i recommend OWC. Selling batteries that have longer than retail life.

How is the OWC battery running nowadays? I'm thinking of getting on for my 12".

Alternatively you could check ebay - just make sure they say it's a new battery in the listing.

You can check in the system profiler to see what it says about the status of the battery, although it sounds like your battery is a goner. I have had good luck with the replacements from OWC. I'd be careful about the life of one off ebay.
