I recently acquired a 15" PowerBook G4 (Aluminum model, with a 1 GHz G4 processor, 1 GB of RAM (upgraded from 256 MB by previous owner), 60 GB hard drive, slot-loading SuperDrive (upgraded from Combo drive by previous owner), ATI Radeon Mobility 9600 graphics, and AirPort Extreme.

BUT... the PowerBook didn't come with a battery (it DID come with a Macally charger, which works fine). When I first booted it, it worked fine. But every other time, it requires that I reset the PMU before turning it on, and it keeps forgetting the date and time. At first, I figured this was probably due to the lack of a battery. But then, today I got a battery for it, but the battery doesn't work! The seller specifically said that it was tested and working, but when I got it and loaded it into the PowerBook, it would not hold a charge! The PowerBook does recognize the battery, but it simply refuses to charge and stays stuck at "0%".

I tried resetting the PRAM, but that didn't work. I think the PRAM battery needs to be recharged or even replaced. Maybe the PRAM is the reason why the battery won't charge?

I can still use it, as long as it's connected to an AC adapter, and I have to reset the PMU before booting. I will post the battery specs later.

Any comments/suggestions?
