Powerbook G4 Boot Problems

I am having issues with my old titanium powerbook g4

when i boot up i hear the chime then it goes black for a bit, shows a folder with a ? on it

then it asks what do i want to do

o=yellow dog linux
x=mac os x

i press x and then it goes white and stays there

The computer cannot identify the system folder and you need to install the software again. Do you have the manual? There is a wealth of information in it and covers how to start it up from the install CD.
