Hello, the hard drive in my PowerBook G4 (17" 1.5GHz) has failed.:(

Luckily i was able to get most of my data off it, thanks to a LaCie external drive and Data Rescue II.

I was wondering what the best hard drive would be to replace it?, also to upgrade to a little more storage space, I've had a look on a few sites but i'm not sure which to go for.

Any advice/opinions would be appreciated.

Thanks.

My computer (PBG4) came with the BTO 80GB 5400RPM drive, which failed after three years. I replaced it with a WD 120 GB 5400 RPM drive with 8 MB cache. I have had no problems so far, and I love the extra space (although i don't fill it up as I keep a lot of media on my Lacie Quadra). It isn't too difficult to install, you can find the teardown guides on ifixit.com, and navigating to your model. The only thing I noticed is that this HDD is a little bit louder than the one I had in originally, not too big of a deal...
