powerbook g4 new hard drive question

I just upgraded my hard drive on the 1.33 g4 to a 320gb wd ide drive, after turn computer on past the apple screen i get a wireless mouse image i suppose its telling me i need mouse batteries but i dont have any mouse connected? please help
is this because i havent formated the new drive yet or did i leave something unplugged ??

yea i would say you have to format the drive first haha.
