Powerbook G4 Salvageable for Anything but Art? Water Damage, Etc...

My old PowerBook G4 notebook computer sat in a tub of mildly
soapy water by accident overnight.

I put the computer in a warm place for a few days...

I have an old aftermarket battery but the computer won't seem
to run or even make a peep.

I took the battery out immediately that morning, I couldn't see any
changes at the time but later that morning it fried through the
plastic.

Is it worth anything, is it cleanable? This was one tough machine!

Boy I wish you guys would read these boards about liquid damage to laptops before it happens...

Distilled water will not damage your computer. But soapy water, sodas, wine coffee and other things will because the liquid has electrons in it that will allow an electrical connection and will rust out your boards.

Your only chance is to wash down all the soap with pure distilled water and let it dry without any water pooling inside for a few days. Then you can try it.

But quit playing around with it now -- there is soap and other things in there that are conducting electricity.

Distilled water, ewipe down the insides and let it dry. Then try to turn it on.
