Hi,
I have a problem with my Powerbook g4 (12" 1.5Ghz):
when i close the lid it goes to sleep. When i reopen it, the powerbook wake up and then goes to sleep. This is a loop wake/sleep.
According to you it is caused by hall remote sensor under the keyboard? How can i disable this switch?

Thank you.

Can i also cut the hall effect sensor wires ?

Unless you're already in there, I'd advise the software solution.

A 12-inch PowerBook is not a friendly thing to get inside of. You don't have to go very deep to get to the Hall effect sensor, but still, the way Apple put these things together, you can cause permanent harm if you're not careful.

If you're determined, good take-apart guides can be found on iFixit. Pay attention to the warnings.

My concern would be that with the sensor removed/off might register to the machine as a permanent lid up or closed?

Beats me, I've never done it. If I'm going to go to all the trouble of taking apart a computer - especially a 12-inch PB - the last thing I'm going to do is leave cut wires, or things unplugged; at least not on purpose. I either fix it or I don't bother.

But you raise a good point.
