I am planning on giving my mom my old 12" Powerbook G4, because I just got a new MBP. So, I put a fresh copy of Tiger, ran the updates, and everything was going fine. Then I tried installing iLife 05 and it froze during the installation, which means I had to do a hard restart, but when it tried to boot it would just lag up on the blue screen with the mouse pointer just there. I am able to move the mouse pointer, but it never actually fully boots up. I tried reinstalling Tiger, but it won't let me choose the partition. So I tried repartitioning the harddrive, but it'll just freeze up whenever I try doing that. I've even tried reformating and deleting the partition using Partition Editor off of a Ubuntu Live CD, but it just hangs there and never actually does anything. I tested all of the hardware, and it's all good, which means that the partition is corrupted. I was wondering if there was any other way of trying to reformat or reinstall OS X? My only other option I can think of is target disk mode and use my MBP to manipulate my PB's harddrive.
