I have an early 2005 PowerBook G4. It's got a bad top RAM slot so I'm running on 512MB. The battery is extremely weak, lasting only a few minutes while on battery. It seems to power issues.

The battery discharges so fast even while off, so I plug it in when I turn it on. However, it does not boot. I have to wait a few minutes before it starts up. (sometimes it will work if I pop the battery out, but not often, it does not seem to be related to the battery) Once started, the clock rolls back to December 31, 1969, 7:01PM. Besides this, it functions perfectly fine. Never shuts down on its own. Does anyone know why it doesn't start right away? I'm worried there is a major issue with this machine.

One other note: I'm using an iBook G3 charger with it, I'm pretty sure they are the same specs

That's your problem - this Powerbook needs a 65W charger, the one you have only works when there's some charge in the battery too.
Ah. Thanks a lot. I lost my PowerBook charger years ago and remembered(wrongly) that they were the same as the older iBook chargers.
