Hi guys,

My Powerbook g4 al 1GHZ won't boot up. I press the power button it chimes, i can hear the hardrive and fans spinning but the screen is black. Im thinking maybe a loose connection or broken sceen. Going to Apple store on Sunday so hope to get fixed because i have to use this Dell craptop!!!!!!!!!

Thanks all,

Similar problem

I have a 12" PowerBook that fell off a bed - when it boots, I get the grayed out screen with the power button symbol in the background and text the says that a problem occurred and I need to hold down the power button to restart the computer. My guess is the hard drive is hosed - any other possibilities. (and yes, I reset the PRAM). Thanks

After draining my battery to suboptimal levels, my PowerBook G4 1.5mhz was acting the same as you describe. I rebooted it 3 to 4 times after hearing the starting up tones, but the screen was very dark. I first thought that the HD was fried. Fortunately, I was able to boot it up after having it recharge for some hours.

Make sure the battery is well charged.

In any case, if nothing works, perhaps it is a signal to go shopping.

Been to apple store they said it was probaly the logic board  ill have to save up for a while now to get a new system (probably a G5) :D

Thanks for the help
Luke
