Powerbook G4 won't respond to PRAM reset, what the hell?

Hi everyone,

I have a weird issue with my 17" Powerbook G4 (the last model made). I was trying to reset the PRAM the other day using the usual 4-key combination during power up and in spite of trying multiple times, the machine completely ignores that I'm holding any keys and just restarts as normal, no PRAM reset.

Anyone experience this before? And, yes, I was holding the proper keys down.

What about keying into Open Firmware - does that shortcut work? If so try resetting from there:

reset-nvram
reset-all

set-defaults - as 2-nd in line, AFAIK?

Your PRAM battery is kaput. Unplug it from the MLB and you'll be back in business.
