Well my 12 inch PowerBooks HD has died, I managed to backup and save everything to my iMac. S.M.A.R.T status reads the drive as failed. I have been looking at a few drives and I think I have found one, the Hitachi Travelstar 7K100 but I have a few concerns, first is heat, how hot will this thing get? and secondly, is 7200 going to show me a speed increase over the stock HD? This is my music Mac so battery life does not really matter to me. I am also not concerned about taking the PowerBook apart.

If your first hard drive was a 5400 RPM, then you'll see a noticeable difference when transferring files to and from it. I read a couple reviews on Newegg and they said that the hard drive didn't get too hot, although it did not run cool.
