Powerbook Onboard Speakers (Help)

For some reason, out of no where, the headphone jack now has a red light lighting up inside of it. And I can't play sound on my onboard speakers. I went to my system preferences, but couldn't seem to find a way to fix it.

Usually that red light turns on when an optical (digital) device is plugged into your Powerbook. Do you recall using anything recently that might be related to this? I don't have a Mac with Digital output so I can't really suggest any software fixes.

Sounds like a faulty sound jack that confuses digital and analog sound output. One user said they used a hair pin to tickle the inside of the port and appeared to fix the issue.
Search the forums more for other threads.
