when i turn on my powerbook the brightness is as bright as it is when you turn the brightness all the way down to the last notch (barely visible, only if theres total darkness and you tilt it right, can you make out whats on the screen). When i push the brightness buttons they go up and down but it doesnt do anything to the actual brightness! What happened? what do I do? (i know i can use an external screen for now...) I tried restarting, etc etc etc. what else can i try?

correct. i can slide it back and forth but it doesnt get any brighter. im locating most the things by memory cuz i can barely see it.

was your powerbook bumped or banged in any sort of way?
does anyone know where the display inverter is located?
does the screen blank out ever?

Its 3-4 month old 1.67ghz 15" how can it go bad like that?

After two to three weeks my 1.67ghz 15" screen turned into a seizure inducing strobe light. :( It happens. That is what applecare and warranties are for.
