Hey all, I've got a quick question. I just bought a new Macbook Pro (despite the buyer's guide saying not to). So now, I want to transfer my files from my old Powerbook. I figured I would just connect them using firewire, like I do with my backup drive. However, neither one of them is recognizing the other. Is there a way for me to force them to see each other?

The Powerbook is a G4 running OS X 10.3.9 (I got it as a gift for college, and was dirt poor during it, so I was never able to upgrade). And the Macbook Pro is obviously running 10.6. Any suggestions on next steps?

Did you start up the PowerBook in Target Disk Mode? Hold T while you turn on the computer, then it will behave as though it is an external hard drive (and hopefully you haven't done anything with the MBP, in which case you can just use Migration Assistant, but if not you can just move the stuff over manually).
