ok, my friend finally broke the screen of her ancient powerbook g4. she can't see anything. she asked me how to get the files off and put them on her new macbook.

the easiest solution that i could come up with is that she buy a s-video cable, hook it up to a tv, drag her files to an external harddrive and then put them on her new macbook.

is there an easier/better way?

no i couldnt because how would i install the software onto the broken computer and macbook doens't have firewire.

You need a screen as you posted but you can use cat-5.

Another way would be to take the hard drive out and put it into an enclosure and hook it up to the MacBook. Then move files over.
