I have a 200GB notebook external drive with enclosure that I had a friend give me the other day as I'm rapidly running out of space.

Problem is with my Powerbook G4 it doesn't seem to work. I plug it in and it just beeps and clicks and won't show up in the finder at all. I plug it into any other PC in the house and it works fine.

After doing some research it seems the USB lack the power to some of these? Is this well known? And if so does anyone have any advice on getting round it?

The drive came with a USB splitter which I managed to hook up to both USB ports with an extender, but still no luck.

Any ideas? Thanks
