Powerbook w/ external monitor

I have a 17" G4 powerbook. I would like to get a display for it. Will i have to keep my laptop open if I am using the monitor? Or will I be able to close the laptop and still use the monitor? Thanks!

You will be able to use the PowerBook closed, provided you have a keyboard and mouse plugged in (or connected via Bluetooth).
