powerbooks strange buttons

Can someone help me on what might be the second use of the F8, F9, F10 buttons. I can see an icon in each one that looks like the brightness function but it isnt, what is it? :confused:

Those adjust the brightness of the backlit keyboard. Next time you're in a dark room, try pushing them to adjust how bright the keyboard letters glow.
