Hi all,

I've just received my Schiit Modi Multibit and Magni, I've got the Modi connected via optical. Now I need to connect everything else and decide on speakers (preferably for on the desk). I was hoping specialists here could give me some guidance on a few things.

- Should I get a separate amplifier and non-powered speakers if yes, what do you recommend (budget up to or over $1000)?

- If powered speakers are enough, what would you recommend with my Schiit equipment?

- Am I correct in assuming that I connect the Modi to the Magni with some quality RCA cables? Can you recommend me a good brand here as well?

Any help would be appreciated, slowly getting to know more about audio, always interested and now getting the chance to get into it step by step. :)

If your speakers are going to be on your desk and you can set them up in the standard, triangular positioning (your head being the third point) then I'd suggest getting a nice pair of powered (active), near-field monitors. You can get something very good for $1000 a pair. I don't have any specific suggestions as I didn't spend that much. You can probably find a lot of current info and suggestions at the Gearslutz.com and other audio/studio-centric forums.

I'm unfamiliar with your audio equipment so I wouldn't know how it should be connected.

Hi, thanks for your input Brian, sorry it took a while for me to get back to you. In the end I've opted for audioengine 5+ powered(active) speakers in combination with what I have and I'm more than happy ;)
