Hi,

i upgraded my macbook Air 2013 to the new macbook. Happy so far, especially with El Cap (only Office 2016 with my large PPT is crap).

I need a DVD drive to import files to osirix (dicom reader). My LG GP08NU20 worked flawless with my old macbook air, but does not work with the USB-C Adapter. Not even, when i use a powerboat on the Y cable.
Any solutions. Which drive would work?

Sharing the drive is not an option, since i want to sell the macbook air.
Thanks for any suggestion.
Dirk

The USB-C is drawing power from the rMB's battery which isn't enough to power the external DVD drive

I have a small 3rd party dvd and it works perfectly with the rmb taking power just from the computer. used it to load office. it was half the price, around $35 at BB, of the apple dvd drive mentioned above. i just used a standard usb=c adapter that cost $6.00 on amazon.
