Hi, I'm looking for a USB-C hub that won't just "hang" out of my computer or iPad Pro. I'd love if it was powered. Most of them have these little tails, like this:

I need this for a music context where I don't want pressure on the connection to my device.

The docks, like OWC's here, have a proper port for a USB-C cable connection: https://eshop.macsales.com/item/OWC/TCDK10PMDSG/

But I'm wondering is there is something cheaper. I really just need 4 USB-A ports, a couple USB-C ports (one to power supply and one to my device) and that's it. TIA.

I think what you want is a powered hub with a removable cable (i.e. with a host socket, not a captive cable).

StarTech have a couple of options that may work for you - https://www.startech.com/Cards-Adapters/USB-3.0/Hubs/4-port-usb-3-hub~HB30A3A1CST is 3xA and 1xC (downstream). Upstream is a 3.0 Type-B connector, so you'd just need to get a Type-C to 3.0 Type-B cable and hey presto.

Or there's also https://www.startech.com/Cards-Adapters/USB-3.0/Hubs/7-port-usb-c-hub~HB30C5A2CSC which is 5xA and 2xC downstream, with the same 3.0 Type-B upstream port, and I believe an included TypeC to Type-B cable.

Oh. I just looked at the notes - both say the Type-C ports are data-only.
