I have a powered USB hub: Orico 10 Port Powered USB Hub
The hub suddenly failed one day. I was trying to figure out how to dispose of it when I accidentally discovered that it could still charge various devices including my cycling light, my dive light batteries, by BlueTooth speaker and my GoPro batteries.
OK, then. I'll keep it and just use it as a charger.
But, then I tried to use it to charge my iPhone and iPad and it didn't work. Neither device indicated that it was even connected to a charger.
I don't think it's an insufficient wattage problem as neither the BlueTooth speaker nor the GoPro charger will work with a standard iPhone charger from Apple, but both work fine with the failed USB hub.
So, what is it about the iPhone/iPad that keeps them from being charged in this way?
